Angel On My Knee

Written and recorded back when my twins were only little and still bouncing on my lap, this song has had limited digital release in Second Life only in 2008, and is currently performed live regularly during my internet radio shows. It will form part of the album “Let The Phoenix Fly” due out October 14. For the story behind the album, please read my post.

Angel On My Knee

by Phoenix J

You came into our world without a care
You approached things with a do and a dare
Your Mommy and your Daddy never held back a hug
You’d scrape a knee but you would still pick yourself up
Seeing you now, reminds me when…

There’s an Angel on my knee
And he’s smiling up at me
There’s an Angel on my knee
And he’s smiling up at me
Don’t you ever lose that Angel smile on me

And then you’ll grow up and you’ll go into your world
You’ll have a share of heartaches and the girls
You’d tackle it all like you tackle a dirt
You’d brush it off, get back on the bike like it doesn’t hurt
Seeing you now, reminds me when…

There’s an Angel on my knee
And he’s smiling up at me
There’s an Angel on my knee
And he’s smiling up at me
Don’t you ever lose that Angel smile on me

I care about not watching over you enough
I want you to talk to share and not be too tough
That it’s ok to cry like it’s ok to laugh
Tears from both heal better than doctors alone ever could
But seeing you now, tells me you’re okay…

You’re an Angel on my knee
And you’re smiling up at me
You’re an Angel on my knee
And you’re smiling up at me
You’re my Angel on my knee
And you’re smiling up at me
You’re my Angel on my knee
And you’re smiling at me
So don’t you ever lose that Angel smile on me
